Unfortunately there is only smoked beer. Whoever is on it is in good hands here :-) Inner courtyard is so-so. Is there something more comfortable. Service was reserved but friendly. I found a lot of the other breweries better.

Very cozy and cultivated atmosphere with very good beers from our own production and delicious hearty food. Due to its central location in Bamberg, it is also ideal as an accommodation and starting point for a multi-day visit to the city. The Merz operating family is also extremely courteous and very nice.

We have been to the Brauerei Spezial twice in the last 3 days and were not disappointed. The beer tastes delicious and the food is top notch. Price / performance and the service are absolutely top.

The food tasted good! More tables and benches in the garden so people don't go anywhere else. Very loud. It is best to place cutting discs between tables so that the others can see everything!

The legend is that after three smokers you can appreciate it, find out for yourself! I liked it after a few beers and if you also understand why it has a smoky flavor you can appreciate it!

The most classic question that can be asked in Bamberg is surely: Do you prefer Spezial or Schlenkerla? The two queens of smoked beer vie for this title, but many, especially the residents, answer Spezial. Spezial has decided over time to maintain a more local dimension and it will be difficult to find its beers outside Germany. The visit and a meal in their gasthaus are almost mandatory. Smoked beer, more delicate than others, is very special. They too have been producing malt for hundreds of years now and smoke it as tradition requires. Spezial is history.

Reserved British visitors will need to abandon their inhibitions and squeeze in with the locals here. Great beer and authentically Franconian. Hard to find space for even small groups in January, otherwise a 5-star rating.

Food is delicious, beer is awesome, portions are big. I would definitely recommend it.

I didn't have an English menu so I looked at the Google Maps picture and ordered this. But all were delicious !!! The price was cheap and full. It was a restaurant with many locals. The atmosphere was also good. Everyone was free to attend. If you are looking for restaurants around the train station, go to the restaurant! And the french fries are very delicious. I went today and want to go again

Amazing place!

The trip to Brauerei Spezial was well worth the visit. I drove 50 km out of my way to purchase the beer here. When you have time, sit down and enjoy a beer. Be aware that when you are there to pick up crates, it might not be easy to find a parking space. You can stop at the curbside, but not for a long time.

If you want to have an authentic experience you should come here. Food is excellent, beer very nice and the staff are really helpful and make it seem really easy to juggle all the different orders when the place is packed. Thoroughly recommend.

Smoke beer very unique and tasty

We came for lunch on a weekday and it was not crowded. We ordered Schweinekrustenbraten, Schnitzel and Jäger schnitzel and the food was all really great! The service was prompt and friendly too. We enjoyed the experience and would recommend!
